Mont Reve is now firmly inside the finishing phase, the building is becoming a place.
This month, three things have moved forward in a real way. The hotel floors are getting their kitchens. The facades are enclosing up to the seventh floor. And fit-out across the building is progressing.
The hotel floors, floors one and two, are receiving their kitchens this month. That is the moment the hotel programme starts to become tangible. Kitchens are the operational heart of any hotel floor. Once they are in, everything that follows is calibration around them. Both floors are reaching their finishing phase in the next month. The scope narrows from here. Fewer trades, tighter tolerances, more precision.
The facades are now being enclosed up to the seventh floor. Each floor sealed is a floor that can move ahead with its own internal programme without weather or dust interfering with the finishes. From the outside, this is the change passersby will begin to notice. The building starts to look like the building it will be.
“Fit-out is where a building either earns its finish or gives it away. It is worth the patience it demands.”
- Marika Abrahams, Projects Director
Beyond the headline milestones, the wider fit-out is progressing. That is the quieter, layered work that gives a building its character. Trades overlapping, sequences respected, decisions made and defended. Fit-out is where a building either earns its finish or gives it away. It is worth the patience it demands.
Kitchens going in on the hotel floors, facades sealing up to the seventh, fit-out advancing on every level. Mont Reve is becoming itself.
For more than 30 years, Saul and Paul Berman have built one way. Hands on. On site. Personally involved in every brick and every handover. These monthly updates exist to show the work behind the milestones, not the milestones alone.
